The Next Big Thing
One of the highlights of IGI 2019 was the Industrial Grade Accelerator -- like ABC’s Shark Tank but with a construction technology twist. Four construction tech startups were each given six minutes to pitch their products to a panel of four judges, all venture capitalists.
Based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, MSuite beat out two other finalists to win IGI's second annual Industrial Grade Accelerator -- and a $20,000 grand prize check, courtesy of top IGI sponsors Barton Malow and the National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee, Inc. (NMAPC).
The Accelerator is a fast-paced, energetic "Startup Battle" where founders of new construction tech firms pitch their products to a group of seasoned venture capitalists, similar to the hit TV show Shark Tank. The entrepreneurs must answer tough questions from the VCs and explain why their product is the best on the market - all in under five minutes. In the preliminary rounds, the audience also gets to vote via text message and influence which firms get to move on to the final showdown.
2019 Accelerator Rules
Round 1A and 1B
Round 1A and 1B will each last 30 minutes in duration. Four start-ups will compete in each round, and have five (5) minutes to pitch the audience on why their technology/innovation is unique and will have a positive impact on the construction and maintenance industry.
The top two from rounds 1A and 1B will then move on to the Finale which will have a panel of VC and contractor judges who will ultimately decide this year’s winner.
The winner will receive a check for $20,000 generously provided by IGI Diamond Sponsor Barton Malow, and the National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee, Inc.
